Chosen Contemporary Art

The art that I've chosen to house in my art gallery, is going to be based around glass. Glass is very common, and is existent in each house, whether it be windows, lights, chandeliers, flower vases and even decorative elements which help enhance the interior of the house. Glass can be manipulated and melted to create lovely looking pieces which are pleasing in appearance and are also durable. The glass can either be crystal clear, coloured or even opaque.

For my 'glass' art gallery, the works being sold and shown will mainly be sculptures, or wall and/or light installations. I think this kind of art, will be easy to sell, as they are interior elements as well as art. These glass installations and sculptures, and wall sculptures can range in size, as it can be sold to both smaller homes, and even for larger spaces and exteriors.

Final Submission - Narrative

´As the lonely woman sits trapped in her cold bunker enclosed in an old dark cave, she runs his words in her mind driving her to insanity, knowing that there is nothing surrounding her... Nothing but silence!´

Final Submission - Axonometric

The above axonometric is of the bedroom, and the below axonometric is of the writing room. Both rooms are quite similar. The have four tall white walls surrounding the edges, with the tinest slit of light coming through the top of the room. I imagine these rooms to be similar to a mental hospital, restrictive, almost as to make her go insane, as there is nothing to do but think.

Change in Idea

I was thinking about my design, and I found working with a corridor a bit difficult, and I think that I needed a few rooms to help with my program of my design. I also thought that having my space elevated in mid air would be quite difficult, so instead I tweaked my idea a bit.

I thought that perhaps, having it be in negative space, where I can cut out of a cliff/ mountain, and make it cave like, will help the theme of ´loneliness´, and it would help reinforce how she is trapped by large masses surrounding her. I was still thinking of keeping the corridor, however these corridors could lead to somewhere.

Above are a few sketches of my new idea.
